Dogs of the Western Region – Winston

NOTE: We here at Ducks Unlimited love our dogs. They are our hunting partners, cuddle buddies, best friends, and much, much more. To honor our favorite four-legged companions, we’ve decided to profile all our favorite dogs of Ducks Unlimited’s Western Region and give them a little recognition. Today we start with Winston…a familiar face if you’ve ever visited the DU office in Rancho Cordova. If you would like to submit your buddy to be profiled in the future, email dblankenship at ducks dot org. (Only accepting submissions from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington)

Name: WINSTON

Owner: Craig Garner – DU Regional Biologist – Sacramento Valley

Type: BLACK LAB

Age: 8

Nicknames: BIG BOY

Favorite toy: CHEWY DUCK TOY

Something interesting: Born in Sandy, Utah, Winston spent his early years honing his retrieving skills around the Great Salt Lake. On an early season hunt on the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, Winston completed his first double retrieve, two drake mallards (picture attached).  Since relocating to Sacramento, he spends his time hunting in the Central Valley.  In the off season, he spends his time as the unofficial office greeter (see pic) and dog-treat-eater extraordinaire.  He also holds the title of the largest lab in the Western Region office.
