In his new role, Link will work on federal and state policies that affect DU’s conservation work in nine western states, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

“Gary Link brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Ducks Unlimited,” said Dan Wrinn, national director of government affairs. “I am excited to welcome Gary as our new director of public policy. He will be a great asset to the policy team.”

Link comes to DU from the California State Legislature where he advised senators and assembly members on water and wildlife policy issues, as well as Governor Brown’s and Governor Schwarzenegger’s administrations. Link has been a working advocate for natural resources and wildlife in California and the Western United States and will continue to do so for Ducks Unlimited.

“I’m honored to join the world’s strongest advocate for waterfowl in regards to water conservation and wildlife refuge creation,” said Link. “I believe we can be the best as proactive stewards of their habitat. Caring about the wild is one thing, taking care of it is another.”

Gary graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in History, while focusing on the Central Valley Project. A white water rafting guide, Link enjoys being outdoors with his friends and family and educating others on the benefits of nature.
