Northern California Refuge Status Update

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife service has provided the public with an update of the current status of the waterfowl hunt areas and other public use areas within the Sutter, Colusa, Delevan, and Sacramento National Wildlife Refuges:

SUTTER NWR: Due to additional rains since our last update and the current and expected water levels within the Sutter Bypass, we do not anticipate opening prior to January 3, 2015. We will provide another public update on Monday, December 29. Online reservations are currently being accepted for Sutter NWR for hunt days though the remainder of the waterfowl season through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s website: www.wildlife.ca.gov/Hunting/Waterfowl.

COLUSA NWR: Open with reduced hunter quotas. East side of the hunt area remains closed due to flooding. the Colusa NWR auto tour route and photography blind are expected to remain closed through the holiday weekend.

DELEVAN NWR: Open with reduced hunter quotas. Access to the hunter check station is via Four Mile Road from the south at Maxwell Road. Access to Four Mile Road from Delevan Road remains closed due to flooding. The photo blind is also closed.

SACRAMENTO NWR: Open with full hunt quotas. Auto tour route and photography blinds are also open.
