State of California recognizes contributions of sportsmen and women

California Governor Jerry Brown officially thanked the contributions of California’s sportsmen and women last week on National Hunting and Fishing Day (September 23rd) with a public letter, spotlighting several locations where Ducks Unlimited is active in conservation work.

California’s sportsmen and women were among the first conservationists to support the establishment of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in order to conserve fish, wildlife and their habitat. California’s sportsmen and women generate over $100 million in support of the conservation efforts including actions to protect elk, antelope, black bear and bank swallows; the conservation and protection of wetlands in 14 counties on both public and private lands; and, the continued conservation of our wildlife areas such as Ash Creek, Honey Lake, Gray Lodge, Napa-Sonoma Marsh and North Grasslands.”
