Watch a DU wetlands transform

Ducks Unlimited, the Bureau of Land Management and other partners recently completed the Cougar Wetland Project, part of a larger broad-based effort to restore and safeguard the integrity of the Cosumnes River, the last undammed river flowing from the Sierra Nevada to the Central Valley.

The 154-acre project created tidal channels in the unit and restored the area to tidal floodplain habitat through a controlled levee breach in late 2018.
