DU visits Washington state legislature
On February 25th, Ducks Unlimited Public Policy Director Mark Smith and volunteer Bernard Brown attended the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition lobby day in Olympia. The pair met with Senate and House members to discuss Ducks Unlimited policy priorities, and to hear from members of the Washington legislature on sportsmen’s and wildlife priorities.
The day ended with a hosted reception in the Governor’s Mansion, where the Governor addressed the group and discussed the importance of conservation and outdoor recreation organizations to the state’s economy and policy priorities. After speaking, the Governor mingled for a while and eventually spent over five minutes one on one with Bernard and Mark discussing Ducks Unlimited, the passion one of his sons has for hunting, and Ducks Unlimited’s conservation mission in Washington. It was a capstone moment to a great day of meetings and policy discussion.
